Anti-spyware software compared
SPYWARE'S A NUISANCE. Everyone knows it. Fortunately,
there's enough anti-spyware software available to clear
your system of the sneaky bugs. Unfortunately, some
of it's crap, and the constant failure to detect whatever's
causing your homepage to change to "BUY VIAGRA
NOW" is more depressing and upsetting than the
cold, black hearts of Cydoor and Gator executives combined.
Some nice souls over at Flexbeta.net have taken the
liberty to compare and review the top anti-spyware programs
on the market, namely: AdAware, Spybot S&D, SpySweeper,
SpyHunter and SpyRemover. As you're probably aware,
AdAware and Spybot are free. However, you'll have to
pay 30 bucks for those last three.
Using a heavily infected computer, they tested the
stuff out. The website concluded that SpySweeper is
the best program for curing your 'puter, however, you're
not going to be too successful running just one program
alone. The site suggests running the three musketeers
of spy killing, AdAware, SpySweeper and SpyBot. Also
mentioned on the site is for potential buyers to be
careful and vigilant about their software, since $30
SpyRemover has a lower performance and less features
than the free SpyBot.
