Several Web browsers are being pestered by Razor Web advertisements constantly. Computer users have also reported that their homepages have been replaced by the Razor Web page and constant Razor Web pop-ups are appearing on affected Web browsers. Most Razor Web advertisements try to convince computer users to download and install an update for their Web browser. Computer users should ignore these instructions! The supposed 'updates' advertised by Razor Web advertisements may be PUPs or Potentially Unwanted Programs. These are low-level threats that take over a Web browser and force it to display advertisements or visit certain websites. In most cases, the presence of Razor Web on affected Web browsers may be caused by a PUP that has been installed in the form of a Web browser extension, plug-in or add-on. Razor Web itself is not threatening. However, content delivered by Razor Web advertisements does have the potential to lead to threats or at the least other PUPs. Because of this, the presence of Razor Web on a computer should prompt a quick action; computer users should remove the PUP associated with Razor Web immediately with the help of a reliable, fully updated security application.
